Total Boarding Cattery was originally founded on the 21st May 2005.
We are a family run cattery with Susan as the proprietor. Susan is dedicated to attending to our guests needs from cleaning to feeding, grooming and play time.
The cattery is set in a quiet location on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border within easy reach of the M1 and the Nottingham East Midlands Airport. We offer a quiet and stress free holiday for your cat accompanied by a clean and healthy environment.
5-Star treatment awaits your pets with each penthouse unit having its own individual light and tubular heater. The pens are very spacious with ten of them able to accommodate 1-2 cats, and 2 family units to accommodate up to 4 cats in each. Only cats from the same family are housed together. See below for more information and images of our facilities.
Your pet will be treated with care and affection, so while you are away you can rest assured that every attention is paid to your cat’s well-being, so that you can leave them with total peace of mind.
Our Cattery Facilities
Our modern cattery consists of a Main Cattery Run, a Utility Unit, an Isolation Unit and an office building. Please read on for more details.
Main Cattery Run
Our main cattery run consists of 12 pens. 10 of which can accommodate 1-2 cats with the remaining 2 units being able to house 2-4 cats. Running along the front of all the pens is a safety passage.
Our top priority is the well-being of the cats in our care, therefore Welland Timbers Ltd was chosen – a specialist manufacturer to construct and install the quality cattery buildings to our high standards.
The outside of the cattery has tranquil surroundings of trees and birds which helps to settle the most nervous of cats. For visual stimulation there is a range of handmade wind driven mobiles.
The inside of the cattery can be seen on this photo, the safety passage runs the full length of the pens and is securely locked during closed hours. The mesh used throughout is a heavy gauge high quality galvanised mesh fitted with clear panels which can be removed for cleaning and allows greater ventilation.
One of the large cabins in the spacious family pens, which can house up to 4 cats of the same family.
Our cabins are constructed from materials that are smooth and impervious and are therefore easy to keep clean and hygienic. We use Trigene to clean with, a top quality cleaning agent that combats viruses, bacteria, fungi etc…
Outside of the standard size cabins, complete with cat flap, vent and viewing window. Each cabin has its own light switch controlling a low wattage lamp unit.

One of the safe non-slip ladders that allows the cats to enter their spacious cabins from the ceramic tiled floor. The floors are easy to clean and disinfect, unlike a concrete base.
Here you can see the safe tubular heating system installed. Each pen is thermostatically controlled, allowing the temperature to be adjusted to suit each cats individual needs. All the electrical system has been installed and fully tested by a professional electrical contractor.
With the health of your cat and the others we care for in mind we have impermeable sneeze barriers between each pen as is good practice, they are removed for cleaning (with Trigene) on a regular basis and when a pen is vacated.

Utility Unit
Adjacent to the Main Cattery Run is the Utility Unit. This unit comprises of a food preparation and storage area (including a fridge), a microwave, separate hand and cat equipment washing facilities and also a washing machine for the cats bedding.
Below are some images of the Utility Unit.

Inside of the Utility Unit the storage facilities and stereo system we use to play soft music to sooth the cats.
And finally the sink unit on the left is used for washing the cat’s feeding equipment and bowls. On the right the personal hand washing facilities. All of the litter trays and toiletry equipment are washed outside of the cattery. Each pen has it’s own dustpan brush and litter scoop to prevent cross infection.
Isolation Unit
Another important part of our cattery is the stand-alone Isolation unit. This is used should any of our cats fall ill, they can be moved to this unit to prevent cross-infection. This unit is 10 meters away from the main cattery buildings.
